Emptying the Recycle Bin on an Empty Desktop

How do you empty the Recycle Bin when you don't have the icon on your Desktop?

When I'm using Windows I prefer to have my desktop free of any icons. It's just cleaner that way. Unfortunately, I grew up emptying the Recycle Bin by right-clicking on the Bin on the Desktop. If I remove the Bin from the Desktop, I lose that functionality.

Fortunately, there is another way to do this that is equally easy through the Explorer.

  1. Open Explorer
  2. In the Address Bar, select the Root path caret and select the Recycle Bin
  3. The Ribbon will show a tab called "Manage" for the Recycle Bin once it opens
  4. Click on Manage and then Empty Recycle Bin.

Voila!
